Cohabitation and Marriage Agreements

This is a very complex area of family law and legal advice is needed before anyone signs a cohabitation or marriage agreement.

A cohabitation agreement refers to an agreement entered into by the parties who do not contemplate actual marriage.

A marriage agreement can be entered into by parties who intend to marry (a Pre-nuptial Agreement) or by a couple who are already married.

The rules are quite different in each situation, so it is imperative to get legal advice if you are thinking of signing, or presenting to your loved one, such an agreement, whether a cohabitation agreement or a marriage agreement.
